my most used productivity tools are notion and notion calendar. to be more exact, it's only notion calendar, with notion as the backend database storing all my items and a spot to write item descriptions.
i've set up the perfect digital system for my productivity. but when i wanted to set it again, like i did for someone during summer, it was the most miserable experience i've ever had with a piece of software.
notion is great because years ago, i somehow figured out how to set it up perfectly for my own use. connecting their new calendar app to my google acct plus my notion database made notion calendar my ultimate productivity interface. however, the untold story is that i've ditched notion multiple times. it took me uncountable attempts to finally convert to a notion user. and without the right configuration that i somehow figured out among this bloated miserable mess, i would've still been looking for my perfect productivity setup.
yes, you saw it right. notion was the most bloated piece of software i've ever encountered. despite it being so useful for me specifically because of my custom configurations, its absolutely useless ai features, plus its mobile version piss the hell out of me. the learning curve is steep. and the notion team is apparently launching an ai agent or whatever to help generate databases??? point is someone will find it useful. i won't. i don't understand why they would introduce ai features before offline mode. and even offline mode isn't made for the database level. but for individual database ITEMS. EXCUSE ME? What are they even thinking?
Plus, they don't even have Notion Calendar shortcuts made for iOS devices.
despite all of that, im still glad that i discovered how notion x notion calendar could serve me the way they did. and im grateful. but still, this product being so bloated is just disgutingly sad.
this guy said it 2 years before me: https://www.threads.com/@amper.sandwich/post/CuxJ7l8NAtV
