Evan's Thoughts

cold harbor rewatch

One troubling fact that I’ve found while rewatching cold harbor (severence s2e10) is that if Drummond never showed up next to the export hall Mark would’ve never reached the testing floor. The reason for that is that his ID card doesn’t work for accessing the export hall.

Additionally, without Drummond’s blood, Mark couldn’t even get into the cold harbor room in order to escort Gemma out of the Lumon building.

These 2 plot conveniences make “cold harbor” less watchable than “the we we are.” The entirety of season 2 is built up for the finale episode, yet the finale episode, although delivered great emotional effect in me during my initial watch, contained too many coincidences.

“The we we are” is still a perfect episode. It’s also rated higher than “cold harbor” on imdb.

The saying “ignorance is bliss” couldn’t be more fitting for this particular situation. This discovery/revelation really ruined my evaluation of the whole show. Maybe even more damaging than “sweet vitriol.”

My roommate refuses to hear about my discovery because he wants to think there is nothing wrong about the show. Oh how jealous I’m of him.

Seems like even an emmy-winning show like Severence aren’t narratively perfect. It bothers me so much that good shows (downgraded from great for me, because of the discovery) with amazing music and cinematography eventually fall flat because of the plot itself.

It’s very hard to find perfect shows nowadays. Even season 2 of Andor is not that great. A similarity between Andor and Severence is that both had incredibly strong starts (first season), but the quality declines as it goes on (second season onward).

So right now, the two perfect shows are still Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul (bravo vince!). And hopefully perfect shows can come out in the near future because I crave fresh and good stories with good executions. So bring it on, Pluribus!

Anyways. Story is still king, in my humble opinion.
